Valentines Day Guide

Stuck on where to go & what to wear this Valentines day? It's the same dilemma year after year in our very quaint Cairo, since there are only so many romantic restaurants you can visit before you run out of options! They trick here, is to find something you'll both enjoy & use as an opportunity to create memories. So, one might reason that the best plans are no plans at all! Make no reservations, and surprise one another with heartfelt plans & special memories. I think that the best days are those that are spent on a spontaneous note, which is why I was inspired to write this piece.

Under the Stars 

Find a quite green area, and pack a hearty dinner for a picnic. Spend the evening under the stars, enjoying your own company and for once doing something different. Pre-plan a fitting playlist and spend the evening in your very own little bubble. Away from the hustle & bustle of the crowded streets, and the stuffy air in restaurants, it's the perfect plan!

A Drive 

Use the quaint space in your car for something special! Stop by your favorite restaurant & pick up some food, have a charged laptop with a special movie ready to play, and spend the evening doing something very different & yet very cozy. It is perhaps one of my favorite ideas, since it's as low key as I am.

Scare Yourself

Find out one item on each others bucket lists & spend the day doing just that. If your other half wants to go sky diving for instance, plan the day to include a sky diving activity (a little challenging since there are no, to my knowledge, sky diving opportunities in Egypt, but you catch my drift!) and vice versa. You'll find yourselves much close by the end of the day, having spent a good amount of time crossing something meaningful off your bucket lists.

Elegant

If you find yourself leaning towards a dinner date, why not go the extra mile? Step out of your comfort zones & spend the night in an uber elegant manner! Get all dressed up, and by that I mean suits & dresses, and head on over to one of Cairo's very lavish dining establishments & treat yourselves to a night you'll never forget!

Road Trip 

If you're the adventurous type, why not opt for a day trip to Alexandria, for instance, for a hearty seafood meal & a cozy stroll in the rain? Alternatively, you can hop on over to Sukhna & spend the day by the beach, build a pretty little fire and make some beautiful memories. Whatever the case may be, just get in the car and go! Use the time on the drive to have some heartfelt talks, even.

At the end of the day, it's all about what makes you comfortable & what you want to remember for the rest of your lives, so if you're the type of person to chill on the couch & watch cheesy rom-coms for Valentines day, then by all means, have a beautiful time doing it!
