So we're all aware of the hype surrounding the MAC Studio Fix Fluid and of the praises many people have been singing, but is it worth it?
Well first off, there's the price, I picked this up for about 175-SAR which is about 350-LE, while the Revlon Colorstay retails for a fraction of the price. The reason I mention the Colorstay is because both have been viciously compared. So anyway the Revlon Colorstay retails for about $10 which is about 100-LE. Huge difference. No doubt about it, the MAC Studio Fix Fluid will leave a dent in your wallet.
I got mine in the shade NC30 which matches my skin tone to a T. I absolutely love the fact that it has SPF 15, which means I can look good and not worry about the harsh sun in Egypt. One thing I hate about this product, is again, the packaging. I do not understand why major brands will go through the trouble of producing a great product if they're just going to put it in horrible packaging. The MAC Studio Fix Fluid does not come with a pump, which is really annoying and not to mention unhygienic. More often than not, I will have poured way too much on my hand and will struggle to pour the excess liquid back in, which is really unsanitary yet necessary. A bottle will set you back 350-LE which is quite a lot so it's really upsetting when you waste a lot of excess product every time you use it. I also hate the fact that it comes in a glass bottle, which only makes it harder for me to keep in safe. If it drops it will most definitely shatter and make a huge mess.
The longevity of the MAC Studio Fix Fluid is quite strong, seeing as how it usually lasts almost 8 hours, even during the scorching summer heat. I find that I do not have to touch up my foundation as much as I normally would with others, though I do spray my face every now and then with either the e.l.f. Makeup Mist & Set Spray or the MAC Fix +. Either way, I am blown away by the outstanding lasting power of the MAC Studio Fix Fluid.
One thing I am on the fence about is the coverage. While it leaves my skin looking flawless, it does lean on the heavier end of the spectrum when it comes to coverage. It does need to be thinned out, either with one of the two aformentioned sprays or with a moisturizer. If you prefer heavier foundations, that won't be a problem for you.
The MAC Studio Fix Fluid has a semi matte finish, meaning it isn't completely matte and yet isn't completely luminous either, which means I can use it on my combination skin with ease.
I absolutely love this foundation, despite a few flaws here and there. It does give me the subtle glow I love during those summer nights and while a few things about it do bother me, I can safely say the good outweighs the bad.
Overall verdict: 4/5
Would I purchase it again? Yes!
